Every garage says it is honest. We would rather show you. This autumn we filmed a short film inside Archer’s Autos in Hortonwood, with Bryan, Sophie and the team talking about how the garage started, how we work and what our customers can expect when they come through the door. Here is what came out of it.

How Archer’s Autos started

Before Archer’s Autos, Bryan spent years working in independent garages and main dealerships around Telford. Along the way he built up a loyal group of customers who wanted him to look after their cars wherever he was working. In the end he took the leap and opened a garage of his own in Hortonwood, with Sophie running the office, from pricing and parts to keeping the workshop running smoothly.

My motto was always, if I wouldn’t be happy to pay for something, why would I expect a customer to pay for it?

A garage everyone feels comfortable walking into

Garages can feel intimidating, especially if you don’t know much about cars. From the start, Sophie and Bryan wanted a reception where anyone could walk in and feel at ease. There is somewhere comfortable to sit, Wi-Fi if you need to get some work done, and a coffee machine you are welcome to help yourself to.

A lot of our older customers pop in for small jobs, like a bulb, a tyre pressure check or an oil top-up. We are always happy to do those while you wait, and you can grab a coffee and have a chat with Sophie while it is done. If you are new to driving, we are just as happy to take you into the workshop and show you what we have found.

We always wanted to have somewhere that women would feel comfortable to go to a garage, because it is a male-dominated industry.

All makes and models, and no surprises

We don’t specialise in one brand, and that is on purpose. We look after all makes and models, including hybrids and electric cars. That covers servicing, MOTs, tyres, cambelts, clutches, steering and suspension, air conditioning and a lot of diagnostic work using the latest equipment.

Whatever the job, we will always call you first with a breakdown of the price, so you know exactly what everything will cost before any work starts. There are no hidden costs and no surprises when you come to collect your car.

The quality of workmanship has to be top notch. There’s no half measures. There’s no cutting corners.

Customers who feel like family

Many of the people who come to us have been coming for years. We know their families, they know ours, and a lot of our new customers are sent our way by people who already trust us. Bryan takes every Google review personally and replies to as many as he can, and if something is ever not right, he wants to hear about it and put it right.
